Bio
Carey McKinley Foster is an accomplished movement artist based
in Boston, MA. She has over 30 years of training in a wide variety of dance styles – focused mainly on modern dance
and classical ballet. She toured nationally and internationally with Snappy Dance Theater, and performed regionally with Prometheus
Dance, Nicola Hawkins, Rebecca Rice, Anna Myer and Kelley Donovan. In 2009, she was a guest artist at UMass Boston, and a
guest teacher for the Harvard Radcliffe Dance Co. In 2008, she was a guest performer with Sara Rudner and with David Parker
& The Bang Group. She currently performs with Sun Ho Kim, and in her own work with collaborator, Bess Whitesel. She is
on the dance faculties at Cambridge School of Weston and Walnut Hill School. She is currently working towards her M.F.A. in
Dance at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Snappy Dance Theater 2005-2007 Voted "Best Dance Performers" in 2007 by
Boston Phoenix Readers' Pick Awards. Performed and toured internationally in France and Bermuda, and nationally in 9 States.
Performed 14 repertory pieces and collaboratively created 2 new works with the company. Featured in Dance Magazine in Dec

Center for the Arts, Boston Center for the Arts, Boston Conservatory Theater, Babson College and Northern Essex Community
College. Performed in The Queens' Spectre, Anadimioupyia, Crazy Girl, and Deadly Day.

Nicola Hawkins Dance Company 2001-2005 Performed at St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery (NY), Rhode Island College, and at numerous Boston venues: Peabody Essex
Museum, Zero Arrow Theater, Tsai Performance Center, Cambridge Multi-Cultural Arts Center. Performed live improvisation with
Bobby McFerrin at Boston Symphony Hall in 2004. Performed in “Arcus”, a 2002 film made by Alla Kovgan and Jeff
Silva (screened at ADF and Lincoln Center, NY). Performed in 13 of Nicola’s pieces, and took part in the creation of
8 new works. |

Carey has worked individually and collaboratively with other dancers, visual artists, and musicians,
creating over a dozen works that have been presented in Boston area venues since 2000. Carey’s work has been presented
by Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center, Dance Complex Shared Choreographers Concerts, Mobius Artspace, Performance Works Project,
Dance Renewal Project, Green Street Studios, Zeitgeist Gallery and at Trinity College in Connecticut. Carey was Co-Director of Royal Jelly Collective and
the Open Floor Project from 2000 to 2003 during which time she choreographed 9 new pieces, hosted over 30 “open mics” for dance, co-produced 5 evening-length concerts and 2 shared concerts as fundraisers for Green Street Studios. Choreography for Students at: - Walnut Hill School 2009
